Posting this before I go back in my bed. Seriously I've been only awake for a total of 5 or 6 hours today/yesterday. I'm still sick and tired @__@
Well I finally got to finish this! This was supposed to be the new header for my live journal layout [link] since I still used my "Bloody Sunflower" pic and it was too summer-like for the season. Well I got carried away and ending up making into a painting. Oh I also learned to use SAI better so I get to color with it while still making it look like I used PAINTER. Which I thought it was flippin' fantastic.
HAHHA, you know I've been itching to comment on this one a long time ago. Now, I can't give you an exact time since my sense of time is close to nil. But I remember seeing this on your LJ before you posted it here on DA and just thinking, "WOWWWWW"
Ok, I don't know if it's because I saw the LJ version first or whatnot, but I kind of like the version with your logo/watermark on it more. But you did say that it's meant to be a Journal header hahaha.
Anyway, I love the perspective of this and how it helps add suspense to the scene. What is that guy gasping at!? What are they looking at!? Also, this is off topic a little but are they from Jack's story? Nightmare Studio was it? Since the pumpkin has Jack's hat. xDD And HA! I know you drew these two on another doodle cube too! I just checked to make sure! But you didn't tell us their names/more about em. =3= I'm curious as to what's going on with the markings/tattoo/texture oh the man's face/suit---Which by the way, is a very awesome suit. I wouldn't mind having a suit like that too. o___o
Amazing job on the background though. I know we talked about getting away from skies but really, they are great fun and great to look at. xDD Love the wide Platte you used here, the piece really shouts "AUTUMN" and "HALLOWEEN" and all that goodness. owo Going back to the scene/composition, it feels like this could be a scene from the climax of a story, or definitely one of those key events.

This one is great. The background, the tie and the hat especially. Will be nice as a header.

I had a hard time picking out the suit and tie's colors so glad you liked it! I usually have NO idea how to color any images expect for themes so the color theme maker really helped.

And here I thought the guy's expression was a bit odd... thank you!!
Oh those 3 are my baaaaaaaasics! I sometimes use 3D programs for BG perspectives recently, and illustrator or flash for vector designs and items/elements/perspectives, and before I gave up on it I used to use Opencanvas, Art Freaks(?), AND even photographs I took. Or I just scan in my pencil drawings so yea I jump around programs a LOT.
I've actually never tried coloring with SAI on a non-doodle piece until now so the suit, tie, flying pumpkin, and the candles/candle falmes are the only areas I used it with. Planning on using it a LOT more. PAINTER is used on everything else. OH I inked it with SAI as well. Then I took all of it and places the original textures and color adjustments and put some burn/highlight effects on photoshop. SAI does have it's own color adjustment tools but the small adjustments are still better on Photoshop than any program so far.
Sorry this reply got a lot longer than it should be

It is said you used Sai, photoshop and painter. (woah it's a lot). Can I ask for what part of the drawing did you use each soft?
