So happy belated new years everyone! I know I sent some new years greetings on people's messages but oh well. Yep I know it's already in February and it's sad to think this is the only elaborated finished pic of 2009. I just re-started school after a half an year break, and I got into a more challenging school so yea it's been eating my time up like crazy.
But since I've been better at managing my time and carving my sleep time more I was able to work on this! Yay for me!
The theme is as you can see from the title. I'm absolutely loving my video class and I incorporated depth of filed and selective focus on the hand. Also since this is my first piece of 2009 I wanted to mash everything I can do as an artist like a showcase work? so it has photo manipulation and design and digital painting and all those fun stuffs.

Ohhhh yea of course! I got the idea to just color the eyes black from his works. Other artists did them but because their style was so off from being remotely realistic I never knew it could be such a challenging and intriguing way to portray humans.

WELL WAY TO GO FOR AN AWESOME FIRST PIECE IN 2009. Doesn't matter if it's already Feb. >:I
Gawsh, Lookit that perspective, and if that ain't enough there's my favorite type of birds! Cuz owls are way awesome~ : ) I'll be captain obvious for a sec and point out the owl has painted style, I think this is the first thing you've done with this coloring style that's really textured. Which is really appropriate with birds because they got all those layers of feathers and things.
It's also really cool that this is like a complication of everything you do as an artist, So wow, photo manip! I find those hard to incorporate into CG, (although that's most likely just me...) Guessing that it's the flower branches and the houses that was from a photo?
K, I gotta nerd over his outstretched hand more, I mean, you could've just left it with the painted ness, but blurring it like that just makes this feel so much more dynamic and 3D. Like, "WOAH HE'S COMMIN' AT MEH!!!"
There is one thing I would suggest for this though, and that's to throw in a brighter color at the top towards the left. That's because the whole image is mainly dark red colored, which makes it look really dense. Also, brighter color at top (to the left) would enforce the light source in this as well as balance the image out more, right now it's really really heavy at the bottom right. :0
Well, that's all I got now. : D And your arts are amazing/engaging as always~
